Maura Nolan, MA, LMHC, LPC, CMHC
Maura Nolan, LMHC, LPC, CMHC, earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal forensics from Loyola University Maryland and a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness from New York University. She began her career providing services in community mental health and correctional settings in New York City. In 2021, Maura relocated to Southwest Colorado to align her professional work with her love of the outdoors, embracing wilderness and nature-based therapy.
At Autism Learning Lab, Maura is passionate about helping families strengthen connections, bridge misunderstandings, and build effective communication skills. She offers cutting-edge assessment, treatment planning, and intervention tailored to the unique challenges faced by each family. With extensive training in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and diagnosis, Maura provides emotional attunement and practical support to help families thrive.
Maura incorporates evidence-based approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), somatic therapy, DBT, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation in her work. She emphasizes the importance of humor, creativity, and play in the therapeutic process and believes in crafting unique solutions for every family. A person-centered and holistic therapist, Maura also brings her background in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Integration to her practice.
Outside of her professional life, Maura values connection, creativity, and authenticity. A nature enthusiast and artist, she enjoys summiting mountains, backcountry camping, and swimming in the Animas River. In her free time, she writes poetry, creates pottery, and advocates for social justice, women’s rights, and prison reform.
