Dan Hancock, LCSW
Dan Hancock is an accomplished therapist and social worker with nine years of experience working with families, adolescents, and adults. He believes it is within human relationships that people thrive and are able to be the best versions of themselves. That led him on a path to become a therapist and school social worker. Dan holds a master’s in social work from Western New Mexico University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Fort Lewis College. Known for his ability to build rapport and connect with individuals, Dan applies his playful energy to help individuals with autism lead happy and healthy lives.
With over nine years of experience working with individuals with autism and their families, Dan is adept at influencing therapeutic growth and fostering strong relationships with his clients. His expertise includes social functioning, pragmatics (social communication), and emotion and behavior regulation. Dan’s previous role as a school social worker involved working closely with students, teachers, parents, and staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). He consistently engaged with students, applied targeted interventions, and collaborated with parents to ensure satisfactory academic outcomes. His background as a snowboard instructor and group leader with Snowboard Outreach Society further highlights his leadership and team-building capabilities.
Currently, Dan is working with the Autism Learning Lab, where he is excited to apply his skills and passion for working with children with autism. He finds them to be immensely unique and hilariously genuine individuals and knows that they can achieve remarkable things and have fulfilling relationships.
Outside of his professional life, Dan enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, rafting, snowboarding, and disc golf. He is also an indoor plant enthusiast who loves tending to his garden. Dan has a family that includes two daughters in elementary school and a fluffy white cat. He finds relaxation by playing board games and eating dinner on the patio with his family.
